Hougang's Pool Since 1987
Hougang Swimming Complex opened on 24 May 1987 as part of HDB's programme of building sports facilities in every new town centre. Hougang New Town was developed from the early 1980s, and the swimming complex served residents across Hougang, Kovan, and Upper Serangoon for over 35 years.
The complex had a 50-metre competition pool with 8 lanes and 320 spectator seats, a 50-metre teaching pool, and a wading pool for young children. It sat opposite Hougang Polyclinic, near Hougang Mall.
In April 2024, the complex closed for a major redevelopment. The upgraded facility will add a sheltered teaching pool with ramp access, water play features, a larger ActiveSG gym, fitness studios, basketball courts, a running track, and barrier-free covered linkways connecting to the surrounding estate.
